Humpier's value chain is conscious of the planet. We work to become an emission-free brand, and that's why we take care of even the smallest details. Our packaging is a bag made of a type of plastic that contains up to 70% recycled material.

HUMPIER, as an organization, produced a report in 2011 quantifying all of its negative CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. It was estimated that 90% of the emissions occurred during the production process of our garments. Therefore, we decided to address the issue in the following way.

According to a study published in 2017 by the European Environment Agency (EEA), textile purchases in the EU caused approximately 654 kg of CO2 equivalent emissions per capita, making the textile sector the fifth largest source of CO2 emissions. CO2 emissions related to private consumption that year.

We are aware of the impact the textile industry has on the planet, and it hasn't gone unnoticed by us. Since the end of 2021, we have been Carbon Neutral, thanks to the commitment we have made with DCycle, a company expert in traceability. Our first step was to offset the carbon footprint generated by our activities, not limiting ourselves solely to our products. We are committed to offsetting the CO2 emitted from the design and production process, investing in projects that cancel or avoid emissions to minimize our impact and contribute to some of the SDGs promoted by the UN.

Our certificates

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE VEGAN?

The "PETA-Approved Vegan" certificate is awarded by the organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for textile products that meet vegan and ethical standards. When an item bears this label, it means it does not contain animal-derived materials, such as leather or wool, and that the brand is committed to not testing on animals during production. This certification offers consumers a reliable way to identify textile products that are ethical and vegan, supported by PETA's principles regarding the humane treatment of animals in the fashion industry.

WHAT IS THE OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100?

The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is a global certification system for textile products that ensures they do not contain substances harmful to human health. This standard evaluates and limits the presence of chemicals at all stages of textile production, providing consumers with the assurance that certified products meet strict safety and sustainability standards.

WHAT DOES THE GLOBAL RECYCLED STANDARD MEAN?

WHAT DOES FAIR WEAR ENTAIL?

Fair Wear is an organization that certifies fashion brands committed to ethical working conditions. The certification implies that the brand advocates for fair wages, reasonable hours, and safe working environments in its supply chain, promoting transparency and social responsibility in the fashion industry.

WHAT IS GOTS?

Sustainable fashion isn’t just a style, it’s a commitment to the future.
Every choice matters, dress with awareness.
Carbon neutrality in fashion is an urgent need in the fight against climate change. By adopting sustainable practices, we reduce our environmental footprint, promoting a cleaner and more ethical industry. This commitment not only perserves natural resources but also responds to the demans of conscious consumers. Carbon neutrality in fashion is not just a trend; it is an essential contribution to a more sustainable and stylish future.

WHAT IS OFFSETTING AND WHAT DOES IT CONSIST OF?

Offsetting is the act of claiming the environmental benefit of the activities of Greenhouse gas mitigation to offset unavoidable emissions elsewhere. The environmental benefit of mitigation activities is represented in offset certificates. Each certificate (CER) is equivalent to one ton of carbon dioxide (CO2) avoided or removed from the atmosphere. Offsetting is carried out by paying a project, which cancels or avoids emissions, as many CERs as tons of CO2 emitted.

HOW DO WE ACHIEVE CARBON NEUTRAL?

The entire production process of our garments (from design to delivery) is monitored to calculate the direct and indirect emissions generated. These CO2 emissions are harmful to our environment; our contribution to preventing this is to leave no trace, to offset. Depending on the carbon footprint determined for each product, HUMPIER invests in credits equivalent to its negative emissions.

WHO IDENTIFIES OFFSET CREDITS?

The credit certification is endorsed by the UN Climate Change Office. It may sound very abstract; it would be much simpler to tell you that for each garment, we plant a tree; however, it would be less effective. Carbon credits are an international decontamination mechanism to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere. In our case, the offset is allocated to a wind farm located in Central America.
